Dockside Green

Dockside Green featured on TV

Times Colonist - Wednesday, June 13, 2007

It's a construction site right now, but the $600-million Dockside Green development represents such a change in construction practices that it is part of a TV show being aired Sunday.

Environmentalist and television personality David Suzuki will feature the harbourside development in the next program of The Nature of Things.

Dockside Green, being built on a formerly contaminated industrial site, will have 2,500 residents living in a community designed to reduce its environmental footprint on the land. Soil was remediated on site and the development plan includes its own sewage system.

Co-developed by Windmill Developments and Vancity, Dockside Green is scheduled to be complete in about 10 years. The first three residential buildings are under construction.

The program will be aired on CBC-TV on Sunday at 7 p.m. and again on CBC Newsworld June 23 at 10 p.m.
