Sewage and Stormwater
Dockside Green will implement a naturalized approach to treating and managing stormwater flows. By incorporating a series of naturalized water features, such as attractive creeks and ponds, Dockside Green will avoid overburdening the municipal stormwater system, while restoring urban ecology and enhancing livability within the community. What's more, 100% of the community's sewage will be treated on site. A high percentage of the treated wastewater will be used to flush toilets, irrigate landscaping, and provide top-up water for the community's naturalized water features. The plant will be operated by the community strata association. The savings from water efficient fixtures, the use of treated water and the avoidance of the municipal portion of the sewer component of the city water bill will result in water savings in excess of the operational costs of the facility.
At build-out, Dockside Green is expected to save over 70 million gallons of water per year - the equivalent of the entire Greater Victoria water use on the driest day of the year.
