New Jobs & Supporting Local Businesses
It's widely recognized that the promotion and implementation of green building practices can generate abundant economic development opportunities within a community. Examples include: new business development to meet the demand for green products and services; resource-efficiency improvement programs that enable existing businesses to lower operating costs; development of environmentally-oriented business districts; and job training related to new green businesses and products.
The development of Dockside Green has created a number of economic opportunities. It supports the growth of existing local companies - on site and throughout Greater Victoria - utilizing their products and drawing attention to their efforts. As well, any jobs created by Dockside Green will be new jobs as opposed to jobs that have been redistributed from elsewhere in the community.
