LEED® Platinum Target
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) is a building rating system created by the United States Green Building Council and adapted for Canada by the Canada Green Building Council.
The rating provides up to 70 points in the following categories:
- Sustainable sites
- Energy and Atmosphere
- Water
- Materials
- Indoor Air Quality
Dockside Green is committed to achieving Platinum certification, the highest level under the Canadian LEED® program on all buildings with some minor exceptions, such as restaurant and pub facilities. With only a handful of LEED® Platinum buildings in the world, our goal is ambitious. However, by applying an integrated approach to design - working with the whole site as opposed to a single building - we can realize economies of scale, allowing us to develop higher performing green buildings
How are we standing behind our commitment?
We have backed up our commitment with a potential penalty of up to $1 million dollars, payable to the Municipality, should we not obtain the LEED® Platinum designation. Only a few buildings in the world have ever reached the platinum level and Dockside Green is the first community to target LEED® Platinum certification for buildings developed in a master-planned community.
Can we do it?...We did it!
The developers of Dockside Green are pleased to announce that PHASE I - SYNERGY has been awarded the highest rating in the LEED® scoring system.
Beating out the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center in Wisconsin, Synergy has achieved the highest rating in the world at the Platinum level in the category of new construction with 63 points scored out of a possible 70.
