Dockside Green

First Nations

First Nations involvement is integral to the overall success of Dockside Green. The First Nations people lived sustainably on the Dockside Green land for over a millennium and out of respect for this ancestral heritage and a desire to forge a strong, new working relationship, we feel a First Nations partnership is essential.

Some of the initiatives currently underway are:

  • Commissioned and selected various pieces of art from a First Nations artist to be used on manhole covers, path stones and site signage. A totem pole has been erected on the site.
  • Commissioned a public art piece
  • Commenced a process of researching historical photographs of First Nations involement on site
  • Job training program
